Gabeta is an original sculpture from Michael Upton’s series, House Guardians. She can be placed inside or outside the home to serve as a guardian, patron, and protector of all within her domain. 

Gabeta is a powerful protector of home and family. A fire spirit, she is especially useful in assisting with change and transformation, and likes to face the hearth. She appreciates offerings of bread and salt.

Born of a pure desire to play and a love for folk and outsider art, each House Guardian is handmade by the artist. Gabeta's face is made from mortar, her eyes from pewter, and her base created using the traditional Japanese art of Shou Sugi Ban, a technique that preserves wood by charring it with fire.
